Texas based soprano, Kathryn Piña, is quickly making a name for herself in the Lone Star State. In the 2026 fall season, Kathryn returns to The Dallas Opera as Dorabella in John Davies' The Bremen Town Musicians and reprises the titular role of Gloria in Nathan Felix's opera Glory Gone at Luminaria Contemporary Arts Festival.

Recent performance highlights include debuting with The Dallas Opera as Despina in John Davies' The Three Little Pigs, singing Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte with Meadows Opera Theatre, and starring as Lucy in Gian Carlo Menotti's The Telephone with Basically Beethoven. On the concert stage, she debuted with Texas Camerata as the Soprano Soloist in Vivaldi's Gloria and  Opera Austin Festival as a Soprano Soloist on the Aria Stage. As a recitalist, she performed in Voces y Colores, an all Spanish-language recital at the Meadows Museum of Art and a solo guest artist recital at Grayson College.

Some of Kathryn's most notable operatic roles include premiering the title role of Gloria the Pop Singer in Nathan Felix's opera Glory Gone and singing the role of Susanna in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro with TCU Summer Opera and Red River Lyric Opera. She has also appeared as The Governess in The Turn of the Screw with TCU Summer Opera, Flora in The Turn of the Screw at Trentino Music Festival, Pemphredo in the Eastman School of Music's production of We've Got our Eye on You, Spirit in Dido and Aeneas with Eastman Opera Theatre, and Pastourelle in L'enfant et les sortilèges with Meadows Lyric Theatre.

As a concert soloist, Kathryn has performed concerts with OPERA San Antonio, the soprano solo in Brahms’ Ein deutsches requiem, and the soprano solos in Handel’s Messiah and Purcell’s semi operas, King Arthur and The Fairy Queen. As a recitalist, she has performed two solo guest artist recitals at  Grayson College, sang as a soloist in recitals in the Festival of American Song with composers Jake Heggie and Libby Larsen, and was a featured artist with the George Eastman Museum Performance Plus Series.

Kathryn is a proud alumna of Eastman School of Music, where she earned a master's degree in Vocal Performance and Literature. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and Italian Minor from Texas Christian University, where she was awarded the prestigious Presser Award and graduated summa cum laude. Kathryn is currently an Outreach and Education Artist at the Dallas Opera and performing regularly throughout the state of Texas.
